About Me

Who I Am

I am a woman (she/her) in her mid fifties. I have recently moved to a village in South Hams in Devon with my husband and two mini dachshunds primarily to be near the sea - a dream I have had since spending the formative years of my childhood in Trinidad and Tobago.

I am a devoted mother, wife, daughter and friend. My biggest privilege is mothering my three children who are now all in their twenties. I love nature, wild swimming, dancing, travel, intimacy and connection and creating beautiful spaces..

I was born in Holland, spent my formative years in Trinidad and Tobago, and had my formal education in Trinidad, England and Scotland.

I have travelled extensively and have worked and lived in India, Argentina and England. My first language was Dutch and I studied French at a language school in Switzerland and Spanish at Edinburgh University. I worked in a travel company and as an English teacher to business people in Buenos Aires, worked in hotel PR in India, was a trainee broker in the city in London, a waitress in Marlborough, mobile fish saleswoman in central Uk, sugar trader in London, and worked for the Prince of Wales Business Leaders forum in the slums of Bombay. In short an eclectic working life.

I studied nutrition at ION and Reiki to level 2. I enjoyed these different fields of work to varying degrees, but nothing stuck until I started to train as a therapist on the back of understanding the benefits of it from my own experience. To call it a calling sounds corny, but its the truth. In my early 20’s after University I dearly wanted to become a child psychiatrist, but was not in a position to support myself financially on the journey at that time.

When my youngest child was eleven a little space opened up in my life and I stepped onto the path of becoming a psychotherapist.

I would now more accurately describe myself as a guide who journeys alongside you, supporting and facilitating you to be who you are at your essence and let go of relinquishing beliefs. I will walk alongside you for as far as you want to go, leading you to come into an unconditionally loving relationship with all parts of yourself, from which to create your dream life. If the will and intention is there it would be a privilege for me to guide you along the way.

Why I Do What I Do

This work is, quite simply put, a calling.

I have been asked why I would want to sit and listen to people's problems, pain and suffering. In my understanding, every single human being has gifts, none are greater or lesser than the other. They range from an aptitude for nuclear physics, being an artist, musician or selling coconut water on the beach. Mine is my ability to guide you into coming into an unconditionally loving relationship with all parts of yourself. It is both a privilege and a joy for me to do so. My own journey has been the best teacher on how to guide others on their's.

What fuels my work is my love for my children and for the planet. When we love ourselves unconditionally, and integrate all the little wounded parts of ourselves back home into our hearts, and into our souls, it is impossible not to love the other and do harm, as we remember that we are all one. You are I in another form. By extension, we cannot harm this exquisite jewel of planet that continues to host us.

My work, although it does not feel like work its really just what I'm here to do, is to free you from untrue beliefs and consequential patterns, tendencies and behaviours that you adopted in order to survive, so that you can live your best life from a place of joy, love and peace.

I fully understand from my own childhood trauma how the imprints of our experiences can shroud and cloud the way we are and the way we show up in the world, and from my own experience I know that you can be free and release beliefs and ways of being that are out of date, if you want to. The past does not have to trip you up in the present.

Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional. With awareness comes change.
